Arts and Crafts Kitchens
Arts and Crafts kitchens were brought to life by the arts and crafts movement. This movement dates back a hundred years and blends simple materials, colors and lines. It also introduced many unique architectural elements, such as stained glass windows, finely crafted moldings, decorative accents, stacked cabinets, warm floors in tile or wood and unique hardware.
Typically when dealing with an arts and crafts kitchen style, the kitchen cabinets should be traditional, but not overdone. Often times you will find Arts and Crafts homes with cabinets containing recessed panel doors. To create a clean and classic look, these cabinets feature framing around the door panel.
Additionally, there were many attention-grabbing light fixtures created during the Arts and Crafts era. Many fixtures featured extraordinary metal accents, divided light patterns, and colored glass globes. The over feel and look was natural, yet undoubtedly un-contemporary.
